Christopher Isherwood 1904-1986

Isherwood aspired to be a novelist of genteel English social life. Then he went to gay Berlin in the 1920s. The result was Goodbye to Berlin, later made into the film and musical Cabaret. In 1976 he published his openly gay memoir of his Berlin life, Christopher and his Kind.
